Re: Match 5 Reports and Reaction
Rams U23 (1) 1 - 2 (1) Reds U23
Once again Jack Darius came to the rescue but his great form has turned him into a level too high for U23 football and he will be playing his last game for the U23 set up at the weekend. Darius started on the bench but was introduced after seventy minutes played. In those twenty minutes of football he ripped The Rams U23s defence a part and had four opportunities to score. The first two was brilliantly saved but third time's the charm. In the 90th minute Darius flicked the ball past Mike Taylor and his outstanding finish won the game for us. Darius has played 478 minutes with football this season and scored nine times. It means he scores every 53rd minute. Absolute outrageous. What a player he has been for us and for the second game in row he came on as a subtitute and won us the game.
Before Darius entered the field the game was pretty even where Emmanuel Airoboma gave us an early lead in the first half. The home side levelled through Sonny Blu Lo-Everton at the end of the first half and neither teams managed to score before Jack Darius entered the field. Great win for us and we managed to keep ourselves within distance of the top teams.

Re: Match 5 Reports and Reaction
Aston Villa U23 2-1 Everton U23
A very pleasing result as they always are when we get a win against a David team. I was nervous when I saw they had the counter - especially with the 5-1-2-0-2 that seems so hard to beat in these games. This didn't get eased at all when they went 1-0 up after 22 mins. For some reason they changed tactic at that point and we were able to pull one back through Karamoko Dembele who is now up to seven goals in eight games this season. They got the counter back as they switched back to their original shape and it was a tight game as we all expected it to be. It seemed to be heading for a draw until Ismail Boulegcha cropped up with a late goal to hand us the win.
Beating the Champions is always nice and especially good after our disappointing defeat last time out. We wanted to come back quickly and the win over such a good team and manager is always one to savour. The passing tactic is working well for us and it maybe we just have to stick with that moving forwards.
The season is taking shape and we're in the mix. A long way to go but being back to winning ways was always important.

Re: Match 5 Reports and Reaction
West Bromwich Albion U23 1-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers U23
This side continues to surprise me. I repeatedly think we're going to be up against it only for them to come good with another dominant win. We had the counter throughout this one and the scoreline didn't really show our dominance in the game.
As it was, it was James Garner who was our hero. The young lad came in from Man Utd to play a box to box role so goalscoring wasn't a priority with him. So bagging his firs two for the club and getting us the win away at our local rivals is something that will make him an instant hero!
It's five wins out of five for us and we remain top although only on goal difference. Some bigger challenges are coming up but, like I say, this group keeps surprising me and hopefully they can keep meeting those head on.

Re: Match 5 Reports and Reaction
Newcastle U23 1 - 2 Bournemouth U23
The game began at a rapid pace, with both teams eager to impose themselves early on. It took just two minutes for us to break the deadlock. A well-controlled pass from Day found Stevens in a dangerous position, and he made no mistake, powering a header past Harrison to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Newcastle U23 responded quickly and almost found an equalizer in the fourth minute. Grist played a well-measured pass to Bloomer, who attempted a clever lob. A slight deflection off a defender sent the ball just wide, resulting in a corner. From the set-piece, Maclean found Stirk, who unleashed a shot, but Treichel produced an outstanding fingertip save, pushing the ball onto the post before it was cleared.
The home side continued to press, and in the 18th minute, they got their reward. Neave skipped past Matos and unleashed a stunning 40-yard drive that rocketed into the net, sending the home fans into raptures. However, his celebration, in which he cupped his ears toward our supporters, was met with a chorus of jeers. Nevertheless, Newcastle U23 had drawn level at 1-1.
Just moments later, the game took a dramatic turn. Our Day recklessly punched Neave off the ball, an incident spotted by the linesman. The referee wasted no time in reaching for his red card, reducing us to ten men with over seventy minutes still to play.
Despite being a man down, we responded emphatically. In the 19th minute, Quinn’s shot ricocheted off a defender, falling kindly to Stuttle. The forward kept his composure and rifled a right-footed effort beyond Harrison to restore our lead. It was a sucker punch for Newcastle, who had just celebrated their equalizer minutes before.
The visitors, despite their numerical disadvantage, defended resolutely for the remainder of the half and went into the break leading 2-1.
Newcastle U23 started the second half with urgency, eager to capitalize on their extra man. In the 51st minute, Thorpe showed great skill to beat two defenders before playing in Sedibeh. A fortuitous deflection off his body sent the ball toward goal, but to our relief, it struck the post and rolled wide.
The home side made their first tactical change in the 62nd minute, with Wilson coming on for Neave to add more firepower up front. We responded in the 69th minute by bringing on Holman for Coser, opting to reinforce our defensive structure.
As the match entered its closing stages, Newcastle continued to probe for an equalizer. In the 83rd minute, Stirk delivered a precise pass to Sedibeh, who unleashed a fierce strike. Treichel made another excellent save, but the ball rebounded back to Sedibeh, who, with the goal at his mercy, blazed his effort over the crossbar. It was a huge opportunity missed.
The drama didn’t end there. Deep into stoppage time, our Stuttle found himself through on goal after a surging run. Charlton made a desperate lunge, appearing to take him down, but the referee waved play on despite appeals from our side. That was the last major incident of the game, and shortly after, the final whistle blew.
