Bromsgrove Sporting 1 - 1 Hartlepool United

Job done, progression secured, they were keen to try to impose themselves on this match. When they got an early goal I was a little worried the snowball would start and they'd run us down but I shouldn't be so pessimistic, just that recent results are that indifferent for us. But we blunted them calmly, I needn't have worried.

John levelled it up in the second half to make the game itself a draw, and was clearly our best player. Keen as for the next round now!

Aston Villa U23 3 - 0 Sunderland U23

Imploded when it mattered. Should have toned down the pre-match rhetoric as some of our players took it to heart - bookings in the 1st and 2nd minutes tell you all you need to know. Matadeen's first booking could have been red so as sad as it is, not surprising that his day is done after just 23 minutes. And overall our day was done 18 minutes into this tie. Couldn't get the ball to Waters or Moore, pinned deep without any space to play into if we won the ball, and we weren't winning the ball anyway.

Well played Nocky, good luck in the next round. If we meet next time I'll try not to play myself out of the tie across both legs!
