Wolved 2 - 0 Eagles

We knew this one was going to be difficult and when the home side was gifted home and tactical advantage, we didn’t stand a chance. I feel the horrendous three minutes spell we had at the start of the game was decisive. Lewis Hall scored an own goal in the 13th minute before he was stretched off two minutes later. When we lost Hall, we knew it was going hard to prevent them scoring more. Maxwel Cornet added their second three minutes before the break and an impossible task for us in the second hald.

The home side had the double of amount of shots on target and they was the better team tonight. In the second half they had two shots against the post and Guglielmo Vicario had to make six saves. We should be happy that they only scored twice. A game we never looked like getting a result and a much deserved win for Wolves.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 Crystal Palace
We tried a new tactic here with three attacking mids - although one of them was a striker playing deep - and it seemed to pay off although that was very much helped by us setting up correctly to counter. As Ed said the Lewis Hall two minutes of scoring an OG and then getting injured were probably key but Maxwell Cornet grabbing his first goal for the club just before half time meant we could relax going into the second half.

Often one up front doesn't work too well but with the extra AMs we created plenty of chances although our accuracy needs to improve as less than half were on target. We did rest our best FW for this one so hopefully he will improve in that area when he comes in.

After the initial poor defeat we are right back in this group now but the worry is we have played both of our matches at home so far so there is a long way to go. It is not the priority competition but still would be nice to progress. Defeat here would virtually have seen us out so a pleasing result - especially against a manager such as Ed. Any victory over him is always well earned even with caretaker sides so I will take it.
