Re: Quarter Final Leg 1 Results and Reaction
Everton U23 2-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers U23
To be playing the Champions you need to have everything going your way. On this occasion it certainly didn't for us.
Firstly we went down to 10 men only 7 minutes in and then we went a goal behind against the counter. We had subbed a FW for a defender when the def got sent off so playing 4-2-1-1-1 we had little chance.
Fortunately they changed and gave us the counter and we managed to find an equaliser through Burkart just before the hour. We then had a nightmare couple of minutes around the 70 min mark
70 Mins: We sub Burkart for Silva
70 Mins: Silva is nearly sent off straight away
71 Mins: They score to reclaim the lead
71 Mins: Silva gets injured
With all our subs used Rice - the backup GK - had to come on off the bench to play on his own up front. It is fair to say at this point we were screwed.
But, we held on to only lose by the odd goal so we go back for the home leg with a chance of progressing. Any win will at least force it to extra time and so we have it all to play for. We take stock of the injury and suspension and move on from here. Not a disaster - but a draw would have been nicer.

Re: Quarter Final Leg 1 Results and Reaction
Aston Villa U23s 1-0 Fulham U23s
I messed up and played a player who is definitely not a DM as a DM. That made this a slog - despite the counter. We won it but it took Sam Lewis having a great game in goal to seal the deal. Fulham are probably rightly aggrieved to not come away with something from this one. As it is Rory Wilson scored again after just two minutes to give us the slight advantage in the tie. But we have to go away with it in the balance.
Very little else to say - dull game - we got lucky!
