Aston Villa U23 vs Bournemouth U23

Ah - here we go - we've been waiting for this one...

16 games ago we travelled away to matt's Cherries and were beaten 1-0. It is the only game we have lost all season and the only time we have been stopped from scoring. Since then we have won 12 drawn 3 in all competitions. One of those draws was at home vs Bournemouth in the cup where we eventually lost on penalties. So they do seem to have our number...

But, in the table we lead them by 8 points with just 24 left to play for so we have the advantage there. And it makes this game far more critical for them than for us. If they can win they cut the gap to five and start to put pressure on. If we take the points, we are going to be 11 clear with 21 left and surely that will do it! But we know as ever with Matt's teams that winning will be tough and we'll be perfectly happy with a draw if we can get one!

They are at full strength and the challenge will be getting past their GK who is a 26r! I'm surprised the rules even allow him to be in the U23s - 3 over rated slots on one player - rated the same as the senior GK - but there we are - it is what it is and we have to find a way to deal with it. We managed to score three past them in the cup game so we can do that again - just need to stop conceding.

We are happy to welcome back Doherty from Injury but McKirdy is still missing. It does allow us more flexibility in selection though

We need to be ruthless and put this league to bed if we can. I have seen too many late slip ups in ESMS - time to make sure that doesn't happen.

Tottenham Hotspur U23 vs Wolverhampton Wanderers U23

After three games without a win we travel to third bottom Spurs. It's only two wins in eight as well so we need to turn it around fast. Hopefully they are a good opposition to do it against. We beat them earlier in the season and it is hit and miss whether their manager shows up so hopefully we have a chance.

But - their roster is fully fit and available and they will give us a tough game. It's not an easy ride that's for sure. We are missing Elliott through injury and Silva through suspension after the crazy midweek cup game. Going to need to juggle the squad and be at our best to win this one. Having the upcoming midweek off does make it easier though
