Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-3 Newcastle United
After what has been a good season up until the last few games we were battered comprehensively in this one by, on the day, a superior side. We were countered and Newcastle turned out to be too string for us. We can have no complaints over the result.
What is more concerning is, after winning 14 of our first 17 games of the season and only losing twice we have now lost three of the last five with just one win. One of those defeats was a dead rubber in the league cup but it is still a concern. We need to turn that form around and get back to winning ways. I have seen alarming slides of form in the past and, if you don't arrest it quickly, it can be catastrophic for the rest of the season.
On this occasion, as Leeds lost, we remain top of the pile but wins for West ham, Fulham and of course Newcastle have closed the gap a lot. Now just five points cover the top five and two separate the top three. From a comfortable advantage we are now up against it.
We're still in the mix but we must turn this form around soon and get back to winning ways. A couple of slip ups is ok - but we can't afford many more...
