Al Ahly 1-0 Leicester
A very even game that could have gone either way and where a draw would have been a fair result. As it was Emman Ashour scored the winner on the hour to give us all three points over our English opponents who can feel hard done by not to take something away from the game.

The result takes us into 9th place as we approach the business end of the group stage with a place in the top four the goal but the 5th to 8th places with a home playoff is maybe a more realistic goal. We're only two points off the top four but are on the same games played as them whereas we have a game in hand on the two teams directly above us.

Our final three games see us go to club America who are bottom and almost out of it before having home games vs Miami (6th) and Cordoba (13th). With Miami just one point above us and those games in hand, three wins would see us at least 6th so that has to be the aim. Our destiny is in our hands and we must keep it that way

Aston Villa 1-0 Liverpool
As ever a tight affair between these two sides with home advantage paying dividends for us to give us the three points. Mattheus Cunha grabbed another goal on the half hour to grab us a vital win after the dropped points away at Sarsfeld and Bournemouth. Anything less in this home game could have been disaster.

As it is we have snuck into the top four which we would love to get to secure the rest weeks over the playoff rounds. However the group is so tight we could easily be caught and not even make a home playoff so there is no room for any further slip ups at this stage.

In our remaining games we go away to 15th placed Los Angeles before a critical home game against 3rd placed Brentford and then finishing at home to 16th Monterrey. So a couple of games against lower placed teams and, with that Brentford game in there, three wins will guarantee a top four finish. This group will fast take shape now but it's in our hands and we can control our destiny. Where we want to be going into the final reckonings
