Eagles (0) 1 - 2 (2) Magpies

First loss of the season came at home to Newcastle United in a game I feel we performed very well. We matched the visitors and had the same amount of chances as them. I said before the game that I felt they was a better team than us but if we got everything right we could give them a good run for the points. It was two minutes of poor defending that let us down. Savinho had a couple of big chances to send us a goal up in the first half an hour but his shots was either stopped by a superb goalkeeper or the woodwork. The away side tiped the game in their favour inside two minutes when they scored twice. Christopher Nkunku lobbed Guglielmo Vicario in the 30th minute to make it 1-0 before Jørgen Strand Larsen doubled their lead a minute later.

After a good start to the game for us we all of a sudden found ourselves two goals down and had to come up with a great comeback to save something from this game. We had two attempts against the post in the second half and despite playing good attacking football we couldn't get ourselves on the scoresheet. With ten minutes left of the game we still found ourselves 2-0 down. Breel Embolo gave us a glimmer of hope with seven minutes left of the game when he scored a screamer but it was a little too late. We suffered our first loss of the season but despite losing, our performance was good. I rather lose when playing well than having poor performances.

Eagles - Man Of The Match

Lewis Hall -
Had a very good defensively where he came up with three key tackles. The full back was in total control of Raheem Sterling. When Sterling and Matteo Lovato had open up space down the left, Hall used it to his advantage and made two key passes without his team mates making them count.

West Ham United 1-3 Wolverhampton Wanderers
A second away win of the season against a better side. In truth they dominated the stats in the game with 11 shots on target to just five from us but, on this occasion, we were the clinical ones as we put away three of them. Maxwell Cornet got the ball rolling in the first half before Sam Lammers and Ruben Neves struck either side of half time. Darwin Nunez pulled one back for the Hammers but, in the end, that turned out to be a mere consolation goal.

So we bounce back from the weekend draw with another win and stay on top of the pile as we approach the quarter mark in the league season. I still think it's too early to start looking but we're getting into the time now where we can start to see things taking shape. We're above where we thought we'd be right now so we just carry on and try to stay there as long as possible. Every win is a little bit of a surprise but helps that goal.
