Sunderland U23 1 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur U23

A point secured at home after they blasted out into the lead early, and we lost Waters to hamstring tightness in the first ten minutes.

Gordon man of the match for his equaliser after that long suspension layoff; we wanted to make sure we are easing him back into the rhythm of competitive football so he was withdrawn after the hour. That's with an eye to the second round of the youth cup in a few days too.

Gordon's goal gets us a point but truth is we were good enough for more. Burke ran the midfield and Moore had no less than ten shots but as is our problem all season we can't convert. Their keeper put in a man of the match performance too with 15 saves, so he secured them a point as much as Gordon did for us! I don't think Moore is doing much wrong but just 4 goals from 68 shots sounds woeful on paper.

City won 4-1 so we have our lead cut by 2 points, but that's the swings and roundabouts of football I guess.

YDL Division Two Match Report – Leeds United U23 vs. West Ham United U23 (Wed, Nov 12)

West Ham United U23 secured a gritty 1–0 away victory over Leeds United U23 in a tightly contested match. Despite being reduced to ten men after defender Liam Egan was sent off in the 56th minute, the young Hammers showed resilience and discipline to claim all three points.
Leeds started brightly, with Crysencio Summerville and Liam Pirie both testing West Ham keeper Finn Herrick, who stood firm to deny them. The visitors looked dangerous on the break through Sami Moore and Alex Dobra, but Leeds goalkeeper Scott Lewis was equally sharp between the posts, making several key saves in the first half.
The game’s pivotal moment came in the 75th minute when Ben Woodburn, recently introduced from the bench, struck a superb free-kick to give West Ham the lead. Leeds pushed hard in the closing stages, with Summerville again going close late on, but Herrick’s confident goalkeeping and the defensive work of McDonald and Barrett kept the home side out.
Leeds midfielder Benny Díaz was named Man of the Match for a tireless midfield display, dictating much of Leeds’ play despite the defeat.
