Wolverhampton Wanderers U23 0-1 Brentford U23
Hmmm - interesting take for Brentford to call this a "great win"...

They benefitted from an OG on 27 minutes and then hold on for an hour with 10 men. Credit to them on doing that but they were battered in every metric via the one that really matters. Their 18r GK had the game of his life and was the difference between the sides. Sometimes you get this type of game in football and we have to just accept it for what it is. Another day we win this one by five or six so I can't be dissatisfied with the performance.
Our key aim for the season was to avoid relegation and we're 14 points clear of that so it's looking good. We are in the top four still and so are exceeding expectations. We won't win the league so it's just to win as many games as we can and see where we get to

Derby County U23 0-2 Aston Villa U23
We saw this as a game that would be really tough and so it proved. On the stats we probably didn't deserve the win and a draw may have been fairer. But goals from Keilan Quinn and Rory Wilson in the second half along with a great performance from Sam Lewis in goal meant we were able to come away from home and take all the points. This is a real statement result against a really good side.
With Liverpool and Bournemouth drawing and Wolves losing we are now eight points clear at the top of the table. There are 24 to play for and we are already nearly guaranteed of a top half finish. But we know too well that a few defeats could see us start to slip so we need to keep up the momentum and make sure that doesn't happen. Until the title is mathematically in the bag we can't let up as that lead can be taken away in three games. No complacency for us here...
