No you bought the extra slot giving you three slots.

I already made changes so Dembele could remain in the youths. Please can you return him asap

For the record, you have Doherty, Bobb (both 25r) and Mandanda (over age) as your 3 that you’re allowed - so I’d think you’d need to promote one of them before he can be returned

My bad as i didn't realise Mandanda counted. i thought it was only down to rating not age.
